Root Canal Therapy

Root canal treatment in Hallandale Beach.

Throbbing tooth pain, lingering sensitivity to hot or cold, or swelling near a tooth can signal an infected nerve. Root canal therapy at Beacon Dental removes the infection, relieves pain and helps preserve your natural tooth.

Care by Dr. Victor J. Dongo, DMD, MSc · Beacon Dental

What root canal therapy involves

After numbing the area, Dr. Dongo cleans and disinfects the inside of the tooth, then seals it to prevent reinfection. Most teeth are later protected with a crown so they can chew comfortably for years.

Comfort-first care

Modern anesthesia techniques and a calm, unhurried pace mean most patients describe the visit as similar to a filling. We explain every step before we begin.

When to call

If you have persistent tooth pain, a cracked tooth, or swelling in your gums or face, call 954-869-0200. Severe swelling or difficulty breathing needs emergency medical care right away.

Root canal therapy questions

Does a root canal hurt?
The goal is to relieve pain. With local anesthesia, most patients feel pressure rather than pain during treatment, and mild tenderness afterward usually fades within a few days.
How many visits does a root canal take?
Many root canals are completed in one or two visits, followed by a crown appointment when needed. Dr. Dongo will confirm timing after an exam.
Is saving the tooth better than extracting it?
Keeping a natural tooth is often preferred when it can be restored predictably. Dr. Dongo will explain all options, including extraction and implants, so you can decide.

General information only — diagnosis and treatment planning require an in-person exam.
